FOREST
GUMP.....the tale of two trees and a
porcupine
Alessi
have recently added to the OrienTales collection and have
certainly not disappointed with their latest additions.
Our first monthly favourite comes in the form of a delightful
condiment set from Alessi. The salt and pepper pots take the
form of two trees and popping up beside them is a little
creature, who when filled with toothpicks, becomes a little
porcupine. All the separate pieces are magnetic, so they
stick to reduce the risk of getting knocked over. It also
means the set can be carried to and from the table with ease.
Being hand decorated gives the set a wonderfully tactile
feel, which adds to the appeal of it. The set also comes
packaged in the classic OrienTales black packaging to make it
an extra special gift, should you be able to part company
with it once purchased that is. I accept this may not be
everyone's cup of tea at first glance, but I challenge
you to see this in the flesh and not love it. Why Alessi have
named this little gem Forest Gump is still a mystery, but the
name is strangely apt for the adorable nature of this
product.
The mask of Alessandro.........
Each year Alessi add to their
collection of special edition corkscrews in the style of
the famous Alessandro M. One of the latest, Arlecchino,
is a real treat for any Alessi collector. The great thing
about the special edition Alessandros are the accessories
that accompany them. There is just something delightful
about these characterful corkscrews being dressed to
impress. Arlecchino in particular comes with a hat and
mask combo. These also make very unique presents for
special occassions. You are garaunteed to be original if
you turn up to a party with one of these, especially good
in my opinion for a wedding present if you want to be
different and stray from a list. Another perk of these
corkscrews is, despite being perfectly functioning and
usable, they also look great as a piece of artistic
design and are fit to dress a side table or cabinet. So
you know if you buy one of these for someone, it is not
going to be another gift shoved in a cupboard never to be
seen again, however will sit proudly in their home and
bring a smile to their faces. What more can you want from
a gift?
